Elizabeth White

Chair

After a career as a physiotherapist working in the UK, South Africa & then Australia, for 10years, I returned to the UK in 1988 with an Australian husband & 2 children.

On return to London & to balance child care I started work on fundraising projects for The British Lung Foundation & joined the committee of The Asthma Gift Fair, organising & finally chairing an event which for many years was the single biggest annual contribution to Asthma UK.

This led to 6 years working for Director of Music at St Margaret’s Westminster a job that involved booking choirs for special services, fund raising for & then leading several choir tours to Rome, USA & Cornwall.

Another move to Pangbourne led to another change when I was elected to the Parish Council in 2005 – 2012, Vice Chair for 3 years followed by 5 years as Chair of PC & Village Hall Committee. Using previous fund raising experience during that time I led & was involved in raising in excess of £250,000 of grant funding to enable the council to successfully complete 2 major projects, ‘Extend & Refurbish the Village Hall’ & Replace the Children’s Play Area in the Recreation Ground.

Finally having had a house in Bembridge since 1992, in 2017 we were able to live in the village full time. So when there was a vacancy on the PC in June 2018 I stood & was elected. I was re-elected in May 2021 becoming Chair.
