Resilience Group

Bembridge Emergency & Resilience Group

In 2022 the Council were successful in securing a grant from Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks of £4,802.63 via their SSEN Resilient Communities Fund.

The grant has helped with the foundation of an Emergency and Resilience Group in the village.

The initial aims of the group were to create a bespoke volunteer role which would be the first for the Island and unique to Bembridge, to obtain the use of a small vehicle, to campaign to recruit personnel and to establish a community hub for storage and deployment.

So far 6 volunteers have been recruited to join the flood response team and with the aid of the grant outlined above we’ve also been able to purchase essential equipment to assist with flood mitigation.
